Engagement pics!

So Brian and I got our engagement pictures done yesterday! Cassie (my maid of honor) took them. We went out to Ledges and had a blast! Cassie posted a sneak peek of a few on her blog and so far they look awesome! Check them out at www.garnetphoto.blogspot.com!

On another subject, I decided to start keeping track of my weight and how I'm doing on my diet each week. A couple weeks ago I started at 178 (ridiculous I know!) and I had lost 10 lbs over a month and was at 168 for a while. Now I'm back up to about 172. About 3 days ago I started using a diet supplement called LipoFuze that i ordered online and heard great things about. I'm trying to be more active at work (standing more instead of sitting, playing games with the kids instead of just watching) and I'm trying to do my wii fit every day and I'm going to start biking to work, so hopefully the combination of all that will help me lose more weight!

As for the wedding planning, my list hasn't changed much...

My sister and I are going shopping on Tuesday for her dress and Aden's tux. It'll be fun! Tomorrow we're going to try our caterer's food and probably sign the contract. Cassie and I need to set another day to go shopping for shoes and a vail!

Anyways, I'm at work and should probably be working. Haha.

Bored at work again and thinking about my wedding...

So our wedding is less than 6 months away and I feel like I don't have enough done. We have our venue booked, photographer booked, dj booked, church booked, and cake lady booked. That's about it. Oh, and I have my dress. I sat down the other day and thought of a list of things that I DON'T have done yet, and here it is:



1. Meet with DJ about music

2. Get marriage license

3. Hire organ player

4. Meet with florist

5. Look into insurance for liquor

6. Get Jamie's dress

7. Get Aden's suit

8. Get a limo

9. Order invitations (will be done very soon!)

10. Send out invitations!

11. Hound Brian to get all of his groomsmen to try on tuxes

12. Meet with pastor

13. Centerpieces and decorations for reception

14. Hire a caterer!

15. Gifts for bridesmaids and groomsmen

16. Look into dyable shoes for me:)

28. Lose 20 more lbs. Haha (I've already lost 10!)



In other words, Cassie, help me! Haha. We need to set up a wedding day very soon. There are probably things to be done that I haven't even thought of.

So I guess since I last wrote I've had an aunt pass away. My mom's oldest sister, Deb passed away. I took off time last week to go to her funeral and see all of my family. I hate funerals. They're so depressing.

My tummy kinda hurts right now....hmmmm......

I should be doing paperwork right now instead of writing in my blog....

Well, I can't seem to think of anything else to write about so I'm going to try to accomplish something on that list up there....maybe finish my wedding website. Later!

Bored at work...there will probably be a lot of these...

So it's only been like a week and a half since I last wrote! Haha. Mom came and helped us clean our apartment that weekend and it was practically spotless when she left! I've been trying very hard to make sure everyone is cleaning up their own messes so it doesn't get that way again.

This last week I've been very stressed. First, I didn't get the wells fargo job I applied for, and I was really hoping for something new. I worked like 60 hours last week for spring break, and then to top it off, I found out Weston was STILL in the hospital (he'd been there for about 4 days already) with his RSV and it wasn't getting better, so I called into work and took some time to go see him. It was so sad to walk in and see him with wires attatched to him everywhere:( Found out this morning that he was going to go home this evening tho, so that made me very happy!

I also went bridesmaid dress shopping with Deb and Sarah. Jenn already has her dress and Cassie knows what she wants, but I don't think she's ordered it yet. Deb ordered hers this past weekend and Sarah kinda just looked to see what she might like after the baby's born. Now I just have to get my sister's dress and get on Brian about his crew's suits!

Hm....7 minutes left until my shift is over and I can go home and relax with the soon-to-be hubby and roommates. I need to get some more wedding planning done. I need to set up a wedding planning day with Cassie soon to knock out a bunch of stuff (since she's my maid of honor and all)!

I don't have to work tomorrow unless I get called in sometime before 7 am.

Oh, shift is over, gotta go!

Why does it always take me forever to write? I need to fix that.

So it's been another 6 1/2 months since I last wrote. I'm sitting at work being bored off my mind right now. I get to leave in about 20 minutes so this post will be short. Btw, I got the job at Lutheran Services of Iowa as a Youth Specialist and have been here for almost 6 months. I enjoy it, but some days I really want to quit. I recently applied at like 30 other jobs that are more in my field of degree, and so far I've gotten one call-back. I have a phone interview on Monday for Wells Fargo as a teller. No idea where, what the hours would be, or how much it pays, but hey, it's better than getting beat up by kids all day. We'll see how that goes. Crossing my fingers.

Wedding plans are coming along well. I bought my dress. We have our reception hall, dj, photographer, and cake lady all booked. My bridesmaids are working on ordering their dresses, which is awesome! I can't wait to show off my dress!

I feel like our apartment is still not unpacked....I'm so not motivated to do it, and of course no one else is either. Brian works 40 hours a week and is a part time student. AJ works like 25 hours a week, but spends every minute that he's home in his own room, and Megan is always at her boyfriend's house, so she doesn't do shit. It irritates me, but I always get over it. Mom, Scott, and Brent are actually coming down tomorrow and staying till Sunday afternoon to help me get stuff organized and put away. Mom's going to help me hang stuff up on the walls, since our walls are still bare after 6 months! Jamie's not coming...

Speaking of Jamie....she broke up with Ethan like a month ago, and it seems to be final. I got a call from mom tonight (yes, while at work, I answered my phone...shame on me!) saying that she spent a day with Ethan the other day to maybe try to work things out and apparently he tried to choke Aden, so for his sake, I hope I never see him again. Jamie turned him into DHS for the second time, but apparently they never did anything the first time, so who knows if they'll do anything this time. I'm still trying to convince Jamie to move to Ames, but no luck so far.

Speaking of Jamie reminded me of Brent. Haha. He got his first DUI a few months ago, at the age of 16. Oh, how proud I am of him (Joking). At least he learned from it. He's working to pay it off, and he has a ride to work every week I guess, since he no longer has a license.

OMG the last time I wrote, Jamie was still pregnant. She had Weston Michael Wirtz on November 5, 2009. He's now 4 months old and soooo cute. I would post a picture if I was on my home computer. Poor guy has a sinus problem and has been congested since he was born, and the doctors don't think it will go away until he's at least 6 months old when his nasal passages get bigger. Aden's getting big! He's almost 20 months old and so adorable. He's learning to talk and getting in trouble a lot. Again, I'd post a picture if I wasn't at work.

I now only have 3 minutes left until my shift ends, so I'm going to head out! Hopefully I'll write before the next 6 month mark. Haha.

School starts tomorrow and I'm not going...

It feels so weird to know that classes start tomorrow and I don't have to go. Haha. And I don't have a job yet, so I'm going to be sitting around at home doing nothing while Brian and Megan go to campus. I did have my second interview at Lutheran Services of Iowa last Wednesday, so I'm hoping I'll have a job soon. I'm getting really sick of sitting home doing nothing all day. I need something to do and I need money! Haha.

I suppose I could clean the apartment. We're still getting stuff unpacked after moving. I should be spending my days putting stuff away, but the first week we were here I busted my ass to get stuff cleaned up and organized for my birthday/graduation party and I haven't really been in the mood to do anything since. lol.

Nothing has really happened since the last time I wrote. We've done some planning for the wedding, and done a lot of nothing. Brian's been workin a lot and he had band camp this week, so he's pretty exhausted. We're gonna go view some venues next week some time (after I call the venues. haha).

Jamie and Ethan are on the rocks right now. Last week Ethan left the house and partied with his friends without even telling Jamie that he was leaving, and didn't come home for 2 days. Jamie told him they were over and started packing up her stuff and Aden's stuff, and then I guess Ethan wanted to talk so they talked things through and they're back together but giving each other time. Jamie stayed at mom's house for about a week. I just hope he can grow up.

Well, this post was full of a bunch of nothin. haha. Anyways, I'm done I suppose. Hopefully I'll have a job before the end of August!

Haha, just kidding. It's just funny that you always give me crap for not updating more often. I wish I could think about it more often.

Anyways, it's been 3 months since I last wrote. Lol. As of May 27th, 2009, Brian and I ARE engaged now. It was so cute. We were in Texas staying with his uncle for just over a week. We were out driving around, exploring the country outside San Antonio. Brian was looking for a place to take pictures on top of a hill so he could get a good view, but we drove around looking forever before we found one. We finally found a rest stop that was on a hilltop and had a beautiful view. Brian was setting up his tripod to take some pictures and I was just checkin out the scenery. Finally, he sits me down on the picnic table and asks me if I remember what he told me when he gave me my promise ring (2 years and 5 months ago) and at first I said no, but then I thought about it and remembered and told him that he'd said it was temporary until he could get me something better. Then he got down on one knee next to me and said "Would this be better?" as he pulled out a ring. I almost started crying and of course I said yes since this is what I've been waiting for for almost 2 years. lol. The best moment of my life.

Anyways, now we're in our new 3 bedroom apt and trying to get the place all unpacked for this weekend. We're having an engagement/new apartment warming/Jacque's 23rd birthday/graduation party this weekend, so we want the place to be all put together. I can't believe I'm going to be 23 in 3 days! I feel so old.

Aden turned a year old a few weeks ago. I can't believe it's already been a year. It seems like yesterday that I was just holding him as a newborn baby. And Jamie's due in November, just a few months away, and she's having another boy. One of the names they've picked out is Benson, which I think is adorable. She's getting very nervous, too, because she's worried that she can't take care of a one year old and a newborn baby at the same time. Of course, I told her I'd help her out whenever I can.

I'm all done with classes and my internship for the summer, so I'm all ready to graduate now. I've been looking for a job, but so far no luck. I've been applying for backup jobs just to make money until I find a good job. It sucks knowing that I just spent 4 years in college and I'm going to be working at a job for minimum wage or a bit more for a while. I applied at Consumer Credit Counseling Services and had an interview there, but they haven't called me back or anything, so I should probably call them to check in on that. Other than that, I've applied at Wells Fargo as a teller, which I already got an email saying I didn't get the job. I applied at Lutheran Services for a couple salary positions, but didn't get those either. I've applied at a couple receptionist jobs in Des Moines, and I applied at JCPenney's here in Ames, but haven't heard back about any of them. I'm still looking online for more jobs, too. I'm running out of money, so I've got to find something soon. Haha.

I would have added pictures to this post, but my computer was recently reformatted and all of my pictures were transferred to my new computer, so I have none on my laptop. Why am I not using my new computer? Because it's a desktop and we only have wireless here, so I'm waiting for my wireless usb convertor to come in the mail. It's been like 3 weeks and I'm beginning to wonder where it is.

Anyways, I can't think of anything else to write about for now, so I'm going to get going and get some more stuff put away. Later!

Apparently I'm not so good at this blog thing...

So, it's been a year and a half since I last wrote. Haha. A lot has happened since then I suppose...and I guess a lot has not happened too.

Brian and I are NOT engaged yet, and we're NOT getting married in about 6 months like I predicted back then. Haha. He tells me we will be engaged by August though. So that's something to look forward to.

Anyways, I'm one final away from finishing my last semester at Iowa State (other than the one class and the internship I'm taking this summer). I'll be graduating in August, and I can't wait! I don't even care if I don't find a decent job right away. I'm just excited to not have to go to classes anymore. I'm not walking for graduation either. I decided against it, because I don't want to buy the cap and gown just for one day. I'd rather just get my diploma and be done.

This summer, I'm also going to be supporting myself on student loans. Yippee....My internship is unpaid so I can't decide if I want to try to get a part-time job and work around the internship, or just enjoy my summer and be poor. I'm leaning more towards the second option.

My sister has had a baby since I last wrote! He's the MOST adorable little guy ever. His name is Aden. Of course I'm going to have to include a few pictures to prove it.
And now he's almost 10 months old!Jamie (my sister) is also pregnant with her second child. I hope she has a girl this time.

My sister and brother and I got pictures done this past weekend for my mom for mother's day. Everyone's changing so much. That's me, Brian, Jamie's boyfriend Ethan, Jamie, my brother Brent, and Aden.

I'm really supposed to be studying for my last final that's in the morning, but I can't help but want to do anything but that.

Sammy's becoming more and more of a lovable, cuddly baby! Check this out!Thanks Brian....haha.

Brian and I are moving twice this summer. This Saturday we're moving in with Kirby because our rent will be about $200 a month cheaper, and who doesn't like cheap rent? Then in August, we're moving again, into our nice 3 bedroom apt with Megan. I can't wait for that day. It's so nice!

Well, I think I'm out of things to update on for now, so I'm just going to start on my studying...maybe.
